How to tune off from work this weekend

“It's not the meaning of life we seek but our aliveness. Once we have that, the meaning of life is obvious."
- Anodea Judith

As I write this it's 1:47pm here in Curacao and for my Brits, it's 5:47pm.

It's about that time to turn off the laptop, close the phone apps, and turn our focus to other aspects of our life.

Right?

Well, I know that this can be so difficult. In fact it's something my clients constantly bring to coaching sessions.

How can I actually tune-off from work? How do we turn off our thinking mind? The engine running through tasks? Getting hits of ideas?

Yes, we can walk away from our desk, our office, and our environment.

Heck, we can even keep our phone in a lockbox safe in our Qatari hotel room while we watch the World Cup (hello to one of my clients)...

BUT... the only way I've experienced and witnessed people truly tuning off from work on the weekend is by learning how to live in the present moment.

I know I know, great. Another catch phrase without any practical advice, but hear me out.

We are the only ones in our bodies and in control of our minds, period.

So if we struggle to tune off from work or stop the thinking mind then it is us who must learn how to live in present time.

It requires a connection to Self. And a real commitment to personal growth.

And the reward of doing it is this:

You work when it's time to work and then play or exercise or sleep when it's time to do those things.

You live in present time.

Set an intention today, that you are learning how to tune off from work on the weekend.

  • Set an intention to learn how to catch your ruminating thoughts and switch back into the present moment.
  • Set an intention to learn what it feels like to leave your phone in the other room as you have dinner with loved ones.
  • Set an intention to be mind-body-spirit present for just 5 minutes.

Make it a personal goal. Work towards becoming the CEO or entrepreneur or leader who actually tunes off on the weekend.

Wow, imagine what life is like then!

Imagine watching the World Cup game live in Qatar (or in a pub in London) and staying in the present moment the entire time? Without checking your phone??

Life is one big game. A simulation with never-ending doors opening. An experience worth living.

Learning how to live is the point.

Now go on a walk this Saturday and listen to Wayne Dyer's meditation, I am That, I am.

Email me at tracey@livlitceo.com and let me know one action step you'll do as a result of this email. You can say, "My intention this weekend is...."

And go make that magic happen.

Lots of love,

xx Tracey
